CPD covers externally arranged inset, and the school’s own programme, generated through
the 2 Training Days, INSET ELECT, the School Conference, and any other activities
which are relevant to School Life and key staff needs.
The CPD committee meets termly to consider needs and opportunities for future inset
activities. Representatives of staff areas and interests will be sought – including
teaching and non-teaching staff. These sessions will count towards the 15 Inset Elect
sessions required.
Permission for absence for Inset must initially be sought from Paul Budd who considers
this in relation to the school’s daily staffing needs. He keeps the booking forms
which record the key details, and which then should come to me.
As explained in the school hand-book, although there is an entitlement and expectation
that staff will experience inset appropriate to their needs, these have to bear in
mind budgetary constraints.
The school maintains a detailed CPD record on a computerised database. These records
can be requested at any time by members of staff.
